Overview

GuardDog is a Chrome extension that monitors other browser extensions for security risks. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

Data Collection

GuardDog does NOT collect, transmit, or share any personal data.

All data stays on your device. GuardDog has no server, no analytics, and makes no network requests.

Data Processed Locally

The following data is processed entirely on your device and stored in Chrome's local storage:

• Extension metadata: Names, versions, permissions, and install types of your browser extensions (obtained via the chrome.management API)
• Risk scores: Calculated risk assessments based on extension permissions
• Event history: A log of extension install/uninstall/enable/disable events (limited to the most recent 500 events)
• User preferences: Your notification and scan interval settings

Permissions Used

• management: To read metadata and permissions of installed extensions, and to enable/disable extensions at your request
• notifications: To alert you when new or high-risk extensions are detected
• storage: To save scan results, event history, and your preferences locally
• alarms: To schedule periodic background security scans

No Third-Party Services

GuardDog does not integrate with any third-party services, APIs, or analytics platforms. No data leaves your browser.

No Network Requests

GuardDog does not make any HTTP requests. It operates entirely offline using Chrome's built-in APIs.

Data Retention

All data is stored locally in your browser using chrome.storage.local. You can clear all data by:

• Uninstalling the GuardDog extension
• Clearing the event history from the Settings page

Children's Privacy

GuardDog does not knowingly collect information from children under 13. The extension does not collect any personal information from any user.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
